They were one of the first rock bands to record a true orchestral/rock "concept" album: Days of Future Passed (1967) combined the Moody Blues’ band tracks with the London Festival Orchestra — one of the earliest mainstream pop/rock albums to marry a full orchestra and rock band.
Their breakthrough hit "Go Now" (1964/65) was with original singer Denny Laine — he left the band and later co‑founded Paul McCartney’s Wings, while Justin Hayward (who wrote "Nights in White Satin") joined the Moody Blues in 1966.
