Image in QuizMyDay Pinball Wizard: The Ultimate Pete Townshend Quiz trivia quiz featuring
This was the first time I saw The Who, one of two times I saw them with Keith Moon, and a delight! I was left wanting to go home and practice... not that I have the faintest idea how I got back to the Sonoma State dorms that night... or how I got to the show in the first place. One of the best things I did in the first 1/3 of 1976.

I like this photo, even if it's not quite in the Zone system... not enough contrast and so much crud in the background I just painted it out with the darkest shadow I could find, then dialed up the contrast. That's Rock 'n' Roll. I did post the low-contrast print I got at the time in some sort of photo show at Sonoma State, and someone did leave a note on it asking for a copy. My life was too scattered to follow up, sorry. Maybe you can download this. Drop me a line if you admired this in the more Southerly of the original 2 buildings at Sonoma State...

Image in QuizMyDay Ultimate Kinks Trivia: Hits, History & Facts Now trivia quiz featuring A 1964 promotional photograph of the Kinks. London's Tower Bridge is in the background.
In band biographer Doug Hinman's 2004 book All Day and All of the Night, p. 31, he dates this photograph to around August 2, 1964. He further writes: "It is likely that classic red-hunting-jacket shots with The Kinks in various poses around the Tower Of London [sic] and sitting on a cannon are taken at this time. They are used extensively in early promotional material. The session may well have been at the urging of new press officer Brian Sommerville upon the launch of his campaign to smarten up the band's image. Also, Summerville seeks to represent them as symbols of Englishness, a notion that will in time sell well to the American market."
